Scott Porter Wife Is Suffering From Huntington’s Disease

Scott Porter

Scott Porter has made it his mission to battle Huntington’s Disease in collaboration with The Huntington’s Disease Society of America. The Ginny & Georgia star revealed the personal cause for his conflict. His mother-in-law was diagnosed with Huntington’s disease shortly after his wedding to Kelsey Mayfield. His wife later tested positive for the brain illness gene as well. This indicates that in the future, she will face symptoms such as sadness, mood swings, memory lapses, and uncontrollable movements. “I hope that one day I won’t have to sit down with my children and clearly explain what is happening to their mother.” That’s why we’re battling so hard now,” the actor said. Porter joined the Ginny & Georgia cast for a reunion to raise funds to combat cancer. He added that everyone agreed straight immediately and was looking forward to seeing everyone. The actor said that they intended to discuss Season 1, interact with fans, and raise funds for a worthwhile cause all at the same time.

Porter and Mayfield met on the set of the NBC sports drama Friday Night Lights in 2008. The Ginny and Georgia actor portrayed Jason Street, a wounded high school football player, while his wife was a cheerleader at the University of Texas in Austin. They ultimately began dating, and Porter stated their first date was “sushi and a movie.” After four years of dating and more than a year of engagement, the couple married in 2013 at Camp Lucy in Dripping Springs, Texas. Porter said prior to the wedding that they wanted to “be married under a Texas sky, and it’s going to be a type of rustic chic wedding.”

He and his wife selected Austin as their wedding location since that is where their love story started. The pair exchanged vows in front of 140 friends and family members. They told Us Weekly at the time that they hoped to wait a few years before having children. “Right now, we’re not talking about children. We’re both extremely family-oriented and would love to have children in the future, but not right now,” the actor said.

The actor and his wife followed through on their promise, welcoming their first child, a boy called McCoy Lee Porter, in May 2015. Porter announced the arrival of his baby on Instagram at the time, noting that he weighed 8lbs 5oz and was 20.5 inches tall with a 38-centimeter head. According to his post, his wife had labored for 44 hours without any medication. The star praised his child’s mother, referring to her as a gladiator. Two years after having their son, the couple welcomed their daughter.

The Scorpion actor shared a photo of himself cradling his kid on Instagram to mark the birth of their second child. “World, Sweet Dreams. “Welcome to the world, little lady!” he captioned the adorable photo. The actor, however, did not share the name of their daughter. Porter often posts photos of his family on social media, and it looks like the father of two enjoys his kids.
