Stephanie Russell Was Arrested For Hiring A Hitler To Kill Her Ex-Husband

Stephanie Russell

Dr. Stephanie Russell, a former Owensboro doctor, has been arrested on suspicion of employing an undercover FBI agent to murder her ex-husband. Russell was charged with using interstate commerce facilities to conduct murder-for-hire, according to the US Department of Justice. Russell, 52, was detained by FBI agents at 5.40 p.m. on May 19. The physician is originally from Owensboro and most recently worked at Kidzlife Pediatrics in Louisville.

Stephanie Russell was found guilty of gun-for-hire.

Russell agreed to pay $7,000 in reparations for the murder, according to sources, and put half of the agreed-upon sum, $3,500, in a dropbox outside her medical office on May 18. Russell was held in an Oldham County federal jail after facing serious charges for allegedly plotting to murder her ex-husband. She appeared in front of a US Magistrate Judge in the US District Court for the Western District of Kentucky for the first time.

According to court documents, Russell’s ex-husband initiated divorce procedures in 2018, and the divorce was finalized two years later in 2020. They were arguing for custody of the kid prior to her imprisonment. Her lawyer branded the charges “preposterous” in a lawsuit filed against the court that granted her ex-husband temporary full custody of the couple’s two children.

According to WAVE reports:

“According to court filings, Russell and her ex-husband have been fighting for custody of their two children for at least two years.”

Her pretrial detention will be reviewed during a hearing on May 24. If convicted, she faces a maximum term of ten years in federal prison. Prosecutors stated:

“The federal criminal system has no provision for parole.”

Any sentence imposed by a federal district court judge will be based on the US Sentencing Guidelines and other statutory factors. US Attorney Michael A. Bennett of the Western District of Kentucky made the statement.
