Steve started his performing career at his neighborhood playhouse when he was six years old. At the age of 16, he earned his Actors Equity certificate for his performances in two shows directed by Oscar Hammerstein Jr. He performed in several shows while at university, including The Little Theater of the Rockies with Nick Nolte.

Following college, he was awarded a scholarship to teach at the University of Arizona, where he made his SAG debut in Joe Kidd, alongside Clint Eastwood. Joe Kidd as Rider was his first big part in a Western picture in 1972. He relocated to Los Angeles in 1974 and registered in the Charles Conrad Studio. That same year, he made his television début as an Airline Officer in the television drama Night Games.

He then appeared as a cameo character in a number of television shows, including Petrocelli (1974-1976), Wonder Woman (1976), Little House on the Prairie (1977), Mulligan’s Stew (1977), The Six Million Dollar Man (1978), and ABC Afterschool Special (1978), among others. In 1991, Eastin established his own acting school, the Steve Eastin Studio.
