Career

Thatcher rose to prominence as the wife of two-time Grammy winner Palmer. As a result, her professional life was never a highlight for her. In terms of her ex-husband, Robert Palmer began his musical career in 1954. While still a student at Scarborough High School for Boys, he formed his first band, The Mandrakes. A few years later, he joined the band The Alan Bown Set, which was a huge step forward in his career.

Palmer made his solo debut in 1974 with the release of Sneakin’ Sally Through the Alley. Palmer’s solo career saw him release hit singles such as Double Fun and Secrets, which charted in the Billboard top 50 and 100.

Palmer later formed the Power Station with guitarist Andy Taylor, bassist John Taylor, and former Chic drummer Tony Thompson in 1985. Their debut album, eponymous, charted in the UK at number 20 and in the US at number ten. Palmer soon left the band to pursue a solo career. He then released some of his most popular singles, including “I Didn’t Mean to Turn You On,” “Addicted to Love,” and “Simply Irresistible.”

Susan Eileen Thatcher Husband, Marriage, Children

Palmer and Eileen Thatcher met backstage at one of his shows in Pittsburgh in late 1978. She worked as a backstage crew member for a number of performances. The two hit it off right away and began dating. After years of adolescent romance, the couple decided to marry. Thatcher married Palmer when she was only 19 years old. James Palmer, the couple’s first child, was born in 1978 after only a few years of marriage. In 1979, they welcomed their second child, Jane Palmer.

The couple lived together for years, but there were many ups and downs. Thatcher was fed up with the frequent squabbles and requested a divorce. In 1993, the couple filed for divorce.

Thatcher then decided to remain single, but Palmer met and married Shelly Putman. They are getting married in a private ceremony. Palmer’s second marriage produced three children: Anna Palmer, Martin Palmer, and Anthony Palmer. Even this marriage, however, did not work out for Palmer. In 1978, he divorced Shelly.
