Susan Roces is a Filipino actress and producer. She died on May 20 at the age of 80. Senator Grace Poe’s office released an official statement, saying,

“With tremendous regret, we announce the death of our dear Jesusa Sonora Poe, well known as Susan Roces to many of you.” She died quietly on May 20, 2022, surrounded by love and warmth, with her daughter Grace, nephews Joseph and Jeffrey, and many of her relatives and close friends by her side.”

The statement continues by saying,

“She lived life to the fullest and most graciously. Keep her beauty, warmth, and compassion in mind. She is now in the presence of the Lord and her beloved Ronnie – FPJ. We shall mourn her terribly, but we will remember her for a life well-lived. Susan Roces is a mother, grandma, authentic Filipina, and national treasure.”

Susan’s cause of death and other facts about her funeral was not disclosed.

Susan Roces married Fernando Poe Jr., with whom she had an adoptive daughter, Grace Poe. Grace is a Filipina senator, philanthropist, and businesswoman. She has served as the chair of the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) from 2010 to 2012. The 53-year-old studied development studies at the University of the Philippines. She subsequently moved to Boston College in Massachusetts, where she got a bachelor’s degree in political science. She spent almost 12 years in Fairfax, Virginia.

Following her father’s death, she began to seek election results rights and fought against suspected electoral fraud. During the 2013 election, she ran for a seat in the Philippine Senate and received around 20 million votes. She ran in the 2016 presidential election and finished third in the presidential campaign count. In May 2019, she was re-elected as a senator with 22 million votes. Grace is married to Teodoro Misael Daniel “Neil” Vera Llamanzares, a veteran of the United States Air Force. Her son, Brian, was born in April 1992, and she had two daughters, Hanna in 1998 and Nika in 2004.

She was honoured with a stamp from the Philippine Post Office, and she was named one of “ten remarkable Filipinos.”
