Career

Tami started her career as a theater performer in 1983 as Piglet in a San Francisco stage production of Winnie-the-Pooh. In the years that followed, she auditioned for the part of the Childlike Empress in the film The NeverEnding Story. She was cast in the 1984 picture after three auditions, beating out Heather O’Rourke. Following the completion of the film, she shifted her attention from acting to professional dance and joined the Neta Dance Company. Tami Stronach Dance, her own dance group, was founded in 2000.

She also started Paper Canoe, a family-oriented performing arts group. She returned to acting in 2002 when she joined a physical theatre group. In 2006, she appeared in Chambre at La MaMa Experimental Theatre Club. In the early 2010s, she co-founded the Shoehorn Theater and wrote a piece called Light: A Dark Comedy. She is a lecturer in New York City in addition to performing.
