Career

Walter Herrmann began professionally playing basketball in 1996 and continues to do so. In 1996, he joined Olimpia de Venado Tuerto of the Argentine League and began his professional career. In 2000, he joined Argentine team Atenas Cordoba, where he was crowned MVP of the Argentine League Finals in 2002. In the 2002-03 season, he played for Baloncesto Fuenlabrada in the Spanish ACB League before moving on to Unicaja Málaga.

Walter signed a four-year deal with Saski Baskonia for €5.05 million euros, however, he departed the club shortly after to join the NBA. In 2006, he agreed to a one-year, $1.8 million deal with the Charlotte Bobcats. In March 2007, he was named the NBA Eastern Conference Rookie of the Month. On December 14, 2007, he was dealt to the Detroit Pistons in exchange for Nazr Mohammed. He signed a one-year contract extension with the Pistons on August 2, 2008.

Following that, Walter quit the NBA and joined other organizations outside of the NBA. In 2014, he joined Flamengo of the Brazilian League, where he won the 2014 FIBA Intercontinental Cup and the Brazilian League’s 2014–15 season title. In 2015, he joined San Lorenzo, and in 2016, he joined Obras Sanitarias. He then joined Atenas de Córdoba in 2018 and stayed there till 2019.
