On June 23, Mexican singer Yrma Lydya, 21, was allegedly shot and died in a restaurant by her husband, 79-year-old Jes Hernández Alocer. Mexico’s security secretary, Omar Garca Harfuch, said that the lawyer shot Lydya three times. Alcocer and another lady who was accompanying him were seized after the incident. Witnesses reported seeing a dispute between a gray-haired guy and a young lady. Following the dispute, the guy shot the lady, and it was subsequently revealed that the man was Alcocer, and the woman was his wife, Lydya.

Soon after the incident, paramedics came at the restaurant and attempted to resuscitate Yrma Lydya, who apparently had no vital signs. The Mexican singer was killed by gunshot wounds. Meanwhile, the singer’s 79-year-old husband attempted to leave in his vehicle but was apprehended by police. Alcocer even attempted to bribe officers in order to avoid arrest. It is worth mentioning that Alcocer has already been accused of extortion.

Crime in Mexico is on the rise.

Gender-based violence has surged in Mexico, according to numerous sources, leading to an increase in crime. When questioned about it, President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador stated it was the fault of previous President Felipe Calderon. Obrador earlier ordered the release of a Sinaloa cartel head in order to reduce violence. He added that his administration has no plans to imprison drug cartel leaders and has even implemented a program known as ‘hugs, not bullets.’
